GREETINGS
Yemanja is an
Afrikan word from the Yoruba language that represents the orisha (deity) of
the sea. In Afrikan tradition Yemanja is considered to be the mother of all
other orishas. She presides over fertility and procreation. She combats the
birth control imposed upon Afrikan people and governs the fishing seasons.
Yemanja is a powerful expression of traditional Afrikan culture that continues
to be celebrated by Afrikan people on the continent of Afrika and by Afrikan
people of the diaspora.
Yemanja – A Window to Afrika was created in 1993 and was originally
founded to address the need for a wide and varying range of high quality Afrikan
arts and artefacts in London and the South East of England. Over the years
Yemanja has grown and now provides an extensive range of fine art, greeting
cards, crafts, jewellery and books for all the family. This is alongside a
constantly growing customer base throughout the Afrikan Diaspora. Our business
is now one the largest retailers of Afrikan Art and Crafts from the Afrikan
world that exists within Europe.
At Yemanja – A Window to Afrika we offer our customers a window to a
wide range of products that are born out of the very rich and powerful traditions
indigenous to Afrikan people worldwide. Through this window we share with
you aspects Afrika’s history and culture. In doing so we insist upon

and honesty. This we offer whilst ensuring that our prices remain competitive.
